Steve Gatward, the butcher/proprietor, sells pasture-fed, free range and hormone-free meat and poultry in the heart of Del Ray at 2403 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia, 22301
During the Christmas season we will be open everyday except Christmas Day and the day after (Boxing Day)
Hours; Closed Monday. Open, Tuesday 11am to 6pm, Wed to Friday 11-7pm, Saturday 8am-5pm, Sunday 12noon -5pm
We are now taking orders for your Christmas meal, order your favorite meats, Filet's, Prime Rib, Geese, Turkeys, Pork Roasts Etc.
To be absolutely sure there is no mix up, we would prefer that you call in your order, please, only email if calling is not an option.
Because meat is a perishable item, I order the amount I think I will sell. Late in the afternoon on Sundays there is a possibility that some specialised items will not be available. The best way to make sure you get what you want is to shop early or phone in an order.
Our latest products are Biltong and Drourewurs. Biltong is the South African version of beef jerky, I believe it is a lot tastier. Drourewurs is a very flavorful South African dried sausage.
We now have access to Caul Fat. As some people know this is a wonder fat, great for wrapping any pate's and most food in while cooking, it will keep it moist and juicy. Just give us a call or email and we will get some for you.
We are carrying Trickling Springs Creamery Milk, it is from free range Jersey cows, never given hormones or steroids. You have to taste their chocolate and dark chocolate milk!!!!
We also carry Free Range Yogurt sourced from Trickling Springs Creamery, it is rich and creamy and very very good.
We now have Nueske Slab Bacon that I slice for you myself. The best Bacon I have ever tasted.
We also have Amish Butter which is made from only two ingredients, Cream and Salt. Butter just like your great grandmother used to make.
Virginia Farm Eggs Deep orange yolks and G.M.O free feed make these very tasty eggs, sourced from Farquier County. Sold in dozens.
Have you ever had English Back Bacon? We have it! it's sold in half lb packs and is the real thing.
We Sharpen Knives, when your knife won't cut butter bring it in and we will make it as good as new. only $4.00 per knife any reasonable size.
Don't forget to get your Dog a smoked marrow bone, they love 'em.
Sorry but KANGAROO STEAKS are unavailable at the moment however we do have ground kangaroo which is great for Chili. It should be ordered a couple of days in advance if it is not listed below.

Gourmet Sausage selections this week
A course ground Italian sausage from the south this is a little spicy but is a great sausage so much better than any so called "Italian Sausage you will find in supermarkets
A recipe from the Bavarian region of Germany. This is the real thing, the recipe was given to me by a Bavarian Butcher. You can't get much more original than that.
Another Italian sausage but this one is of the sweeter variety and is great with pasta. Descibed by one customer as "excellent with just the perfect amount of spices"
All of our gourmet Sausage are made on the premises and only contain naturel ingredients fresh meat, herbs and spices, NEVER nitrates, nitrites or chemicals. We occassionaly make all Beef Sausage and add natural breadcrumbs, they make for a juicier sausage.
We can make any kind of sausage to order, From your recipe or ours, however there will be a minimum order of 5lbs. Just give me a call or send an email and they will be ready in a couple of days. Note, we cannot make sausage on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. We can however make them during the week and have them ready for you on the weekend.
Do you want to buy a whole or half Steer? You can get either for only $3.95lb hanging weight. It would be cut to your specs, vacuum sealed and delivered from Farquier County to the store where you could pick it up. Just come in and fill out a cut sheet and you could have enough Farquier county Angus Beef to last quite a while.

The Elysian Leg of Lamb we had last Saturday was fabulous the best Lamb we ever had, I want one for Easter
I just wanted to thank you for getting the leg of lamb for me. The grilled lamb shawarma (with cumin, cardamon, red pepper marinade) was ABSOLUTELY fantastic. The meat was tender, juicy, and impossibly flavorful. Sadly, There were NO leftovers!

I'm so glad you're back (from vacation) I brought an organic chicken from Trader Joes and it had no taste, unlike yours.

Just wanted to give you some positive feedback on the superb 13lb brisket that you supplied last week for our Independence Day party in DC on July 6th.
I cooked it on my Big Green Egg for four hours until it reached 150F and then finished it in the oven at 225F for another 10 hours. Our guests were raving about it. Will definitely buy from you again. Thanks a lot!

We carry most normal meats but if you want something special ordered or want meat cut your way, just call or email we will be happy to advise you. Remember I don't carry much LAMB except for lamb chops so if you want other cuts of lamb I can get it for you in a day or two, just give me call.
